Attapectin contains attapulgite and pectin. Attapulgite is a clay that binds intestinal fermentation products and other substances secreted by intestinal bacteria. Pectin forms a protective gel that coats the irritated intestinal lining.

The tablets are given directly into the mouth or mixed with food. You can also crush the tablets, mix them in water, and administer with a spoon or syringe into the mouth. Attapectin should not be used for more than 3 days; contact a veterinarian if you are concerned about your pet's health. It is important that the animal receives sufficient fluids (at least 0.5-1 dl/kg/day), preferably with an energy supplement such as Aptus® Nutrisal. Administration: Dogs: <10 kg: 1 tablet 2 – 3 times/day for 2 – 3 days. 10 - 20 kg: 1 - 2 tablets 2 – 3 times/day for 2 – 3 days. >20 kg: 2 – 3 tablets 2 – 3 times/day for 2 – 3 days. Cats: 1 tablet 2 – 3 times/day for 2 – 3 days
